In February 2009 the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir staged an ambitious production of the opera The Fairy Queen for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. The opera was conducted by Sarah Penicka -Smith, directed by Sharna Galvin and designed by AnA Wojak.
Performed in the Tom Mann Theatre in Sydney it was filmed by Maylands Productions, directed by Helen Evans, produced by Anni Browning, Helen Evans and Ruth Pollard and edited by Vanna Seang.

The Fairy Queen DVD


In an exuberant musical celebration The Fairy Queen explores the queer issues of the day - same sex marriage, gender identity, monogamy and sex - representing the first fully-staged queered opera in the world.
